Prepare for Rosh Hashanah: a guided course

Rosh Hashanah invites us to pause, reflect and begin again. Torah University’s thirteen module course brings the season into a study path, with practical lessons and resources that help you prepare thoughtfully.

Learn the themes before the details

The holiday is both a day of judgment and a time to recognize divine kingship. Reflection and teshuvah ask for honest attention to our actions, while prayer gives that attention a voice. The course lets you approach these ideas one lesson at a time, then continue into the texts and practices connected to them.

Study with reliable resources

The course brings together TU learning with resources from Aish, Chabad and the Orthodox Union. Use the linked material to read further, check a source or hear another explanation. Where a practical question depends on your community’s custom, ask your rabbi for guidance.

A calendar detail for 2026

When Rosh Hashanah falls on Shabbat, the shofar is not sounded on that day. The course’s 2026 guidance calls this out so students do not confuse a general description of the shofar with that year’s practice.

Although the holiday has passed, the course remains available as an archive. You can revisit a lesson, explore its sources and carry the work of renewal into the rest of the year.
