NEW TO TORAH UNIVERSITY?
A teacher, a first teaching, a place to begin.
Torah University is an online Torah school and learning community led by Rabbi Doniel Aryeh. Begin with an open teaching, ask a question, and grow into a steady Torah practice.
No account is needed to read the first teaching. A free TU account saves classroom progress; membership adds live classes and member learning.
Before you enroll
What is Torah University?
Torah University is an online Torah school and learning community led by Rabbi Doniel Aryeh. Study Torah, Talmud, Jewish practice and Kabbalah through readings, courses and live classes. Our emphasis is careful study that becomes a steady practice in daily life. One Torah at a time.
Who is Rabbi Doniel Aryeh?
Rabbi Doniel Aryeh is the founder and teacher of Torah University. TU’s Kabbalah learning centers on the Arizal’s Eight Gates, transmitted by Rabbi Chaim Vital, with particular attention to kavanah: intention in prayer and practice. Beginners start with clear explanations and foundational sources before moving into advanced study.
Where should I begin?
Start with our short Genesis 1:1 teaching. Read the Hebrew verse and English explanation, then try the reflection. It is open before signup. When you are ready for the classroom, create your free TU account and continue to the Genesis lesson. Keep using the same account to save your progress.
How do I enroll?
Begin with the free teaching, then create your free TU account. For member lessons, study rooms and plan-specific support, compare Bronze, Silver and Gold, choose a plan and review its monthly subscription in Square. Creating an account alone does not start a subscription. Your classroom and membership stay linked to that same TU account.
Can I start without Hebrew or a Torah background?
Yes. You can begin with the English explanation in our first Genesis teaching. Read the source slowly and bring one honest question. Hebrew terms are introduced as you go; advanced Kabbalah study builds on foundations rather than requiring you to know everything on day one.
When are live classes?
Sunday: Tales in the Talmud starts at 9 a.m. Pacific. Monday: Weekly Parshah, 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Eastern · 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Pacific. Ask TU to confirm your place before attending. Please arrive on time. Group classes use the single @doniel.aryeh TikTok Live stream until further notice. Study at your own pace throughout the week. Our public group class stream is on TikTok Live until further notice. Open @doniel.aryeh and tap the red LIVE icon when the broadcast begins. Guest access and questions depend on TikTok availability and host approval. TU membership adds the member lessons, study rooms and support included in your selected plan.
Can I try TU for free?
Your first teaching is free. You can read the public Genesis teaching before signing up, and creating a TU account is free too. Our public group class stream is on TikTok Live until further notice; open @doniel.aryeh and tap the red LIVE icon once the broadcast begins. Guest access and questions depend on TikTok availability and host approval. Member lessons, study rooms and plan-specific support use paid Bronze, Silver or Gold membership. Compare the current plans and subscription terms when you are ready. Creating an account alone does not start a subscription.
Getting started
Where do I start?
Create a free TU account and choose your learning style and starting level. Your student home shows “My next step” with a direct link to the next activity. Return there whenever you are unsure what to do next.
Do I need a paid membership or a Skool account?
No. Start with the open first teaching, then create a free TU account for activities marked Free. If you already learn through Skool, ask the TU office to match your existing learning account. A Skool subscription does not automatically become a TU subscription.
How do I sign in?
Open the free signup page and use your email and password. You can also use your existing Google account in your normal browser. Keep using the same account so your progress stays together. Verify your email before saving classroom progress.
Which learning style should I choose?
Choose old school for emphasis on lectures, readings, notes and quizzes. Choose new school for emphasis on learning quests and the optional arena. Both routes earn learning points. You can change your choice in My progress.
I already study Torah. Must I repeat the basics?
Choose intermediate or advanced and take the placement check in My progress. Your preference and the available assessment evidence guide your starting route. The placement check covers particular skills; it is not a comprehensive judgment of your knowledge.
Lessons and progress
How do I find my next lecture or lesson?
Follow “My next step” in the student portal. For a particular course, open My progress and choose Continue this course. Your next activity may be a lecture, reading or practice check, depending on the sequence.
What does the green progress bar mean?
It shows how many published course activities available to your account you have completed. Video and reading completion is self-reported; quizzes are checked. If more activities are added, the total can grow. The bar does not measure mastery of an entire Torah subject.
Can I learn and earn points without playing games?
Yes. Readings, lecture completion, practice quizzes and eligible written assignments can earn points. The arena is optional, and game battles do not establish academic mastery.
Can I retry a quiz?
Yes. Review the explanation, revisit the source and try again. Eligible first-completion rewards are awarded once; repeating a completed activity does not create the same reward again.
How do I build my own study plan?
Open My progress, set a learning goal and a realistic weekly rhythm, then save your study plan. Selecting study areas makes those courses your main route. Leaving them unselected follows your learning-style recommendation.
Does my progress carry over to another device?
Account-based lesson progress and saved study plans are linked to your TU login. Sign in with the same email and password or the same Google account. Browser-only conveniences, such as the public saved-course shelf and merchandise bag, may differ between devices.
Does finishing a course give me a qualification?
Completion records and XP show learning activity. They are not semicha, a professional qualification, permission to teach or authorization for esoteric practice. Instructor assessment and any formal approval are separate.
Membership and live learning
What does membership add?
Bronze adds member learning and scheduled live group classes with community rooms. Silver includes Bronze plus deeper member study and priority Q&A during scheduled sessions. Gold includes Silver plus personal guidance from Rabbi Doniel Aryeh, arranged individually without a fixed private-session allowance or unlimited availability.
When are live classes?
Sunday: Tales in the Talmud starts at 9 a.m. Pacific. Monday: Weekly Parshah, 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Eastern · 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Pacific. Tuesday: Introduction to Kabbalah, 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Eastern · 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Pacific. Thursday: Torah Jeopardy student social starts at 8:30 p.m. Pacific. Advance signup is required. Ask TU to confirm your place before attending. Please arrive on time. Group classes use the single @doniel.aryeh TikTok Live stream until further notice. Study at your own pace throughout the week.
How do I subscribe?
Sign in, open Your membership and choose a plan. TU opens Square checkout for payment. Review the recurring amount and terms before paying, then return to TU and use Check payment status if your access has not updated.
I paid, but my membership has not appeared. What should I do?
Return to Your membership using the same TU account that started checkout, and select Check payment status. Keep your Square receipt. Do not start another purchase while the first payment is unresolved.
How do I stop a recurring TU subscription?
Open Your membership and select Cancel recurring subscription, then confirm. TU requests cancellation in Square; access remains for the confirmed paid period. Your saved learning progress stays with your free account. Existing Skool subscriptions are managed on Skool.
Messages and appointment requests
How do I talk with classmates or the teacher?
Open Inbox and choose Message Rabbi Doniel for a private conversation. For classmates, enable student messaging in Inbox and search by name; both students must opt in. Use Chatrooms or Forum for shared discussions, where posts are visible to members with access to that space.
How do I know someone has replied?
Open Inbox to see your unread count and conversations. Open conversations refresh while the tab is active. Use Mark displayed messages read when you have read them. Messages are saved to your account, so you can return later using the same Google login. Automatic email and SMS notifications are not enabled.
Who can read my private messages?
Private conversations are available to their sender and recipient. The owner cannot browse private conversations between other students through the inbox. You can block another account from messaging you. Do not use TU messages for emergencies or send passwords, payment details or sensitive personal records.
Where will I find a reply to my appointment request?
Open Private sessions in your student portal and look under Request history. TU review updates appear on the original request. You can also open Inbox → Appointment requests. Return to your account to check for updates; automatic email notifications are not enabled.
Books, merchandise and help
Where do I buy the books?
Use the TU Books page. Its purchase buttons open the individual Lulu listings, where you choose available formats and review the final price, shipping and checkout terms. Book purchases are separate from TU membership.
Does a merchandise purchase include membership?
No. Merchandise and recurring tuition are separate purchases. Review the product page for production, sizing, shipping and checkout details. A saved bag is not a completed order.
What if a lesson or page is hard to read or does not load?
Refresh the page and check your connection. For sign-in or saved-progress problems, confirm that you are using your usual Google account. When reporting an issue, include the page address, device, what you clicked and a screenshot if helpful. Never share a password or full payment-card details.
How do I request personal help?
Use Counseling & mentorship to request a private session or spiritual guidance. Requests are open to nonmembers too. Availability and arrangements must be confirmed; submitting a request does not book a session.
Current membership prices
Bronze: $50/month · Silver: $199/month · Gold: $399/month USD. Monthly plans renew until canceled. Compare the plans and review the final amount in Square before paying.
